Consider I have 32 million training examples. In BGD, for each epoch, for the update of a parameter, we need to compute a sum over all the training examples to obtain the gradient. But we do this only once (for one parameter) in one epoch. In mini-batch gradient descent with batch size 32, we compute gradient using 32 examples only.
