357 vs 10mm bear
I've black bear hunted with both 10mm and 357. Both work, however with handgun hunting, penetration is by far more important than expansion and such. I prefer a hard cast 180gr in 357. It's quite a bit longer than a 10mm 180gr bullet and I've never had one NOT punch clean through a black bear at 45 yards.

Hot 10mm loads are closer to a .41 mag as has been stated earlier. That makes it more powerful than a .357 mag. However, around dangerous game I've always felt more confident with the dependability of a revolver. But both of those calibers are minimal and I wouldn't go looking for trouble. NRA Life Member.

I love the 10mm in its full power form but it is a bigger and heavier firearm platform. Anything I would shoot with the 10mm, I would shoot with a hot 357 Sig round as bullet placement is still a major part of the equation when ending a 4 legged threat.
